Douglas Elliman
Born and raised in Newport Beach, my family’s background in the medical field shaped my journey to find my place in becoming a helping professional. I initially found an interest in psychology and learning about all the amazing and challenging differences in how people think and feel. I became a licensed marriage and family therapist for several years after graduating with my bachelor's degree from the University of California, Riverside in 2014 and master's degree from the Chicago School of Psychology in 2019.
However, I always had a passion for real estate, and it never left me. In fact, my family dinner table is where I received my primary real estate education. Throughout my life, my grandparents, parents and I constantly assessed and pursued real estate opportunities in our free time. In 2023, I decided to pursue that passion professionally.
I have thus far learned that my psychology education strongly compliments my services in real estate. The profound connections I forge with my clients bring immense fulfillment to me, and a trust-based connection is key in any investment decision. Because I take all work I accept very personally, and care deeply about maintaining and growing the relationships I build, my clients trust me to provide the highest level of service.
In my spare time, you will catch me singing, playing the ukulele, spending time with my friends and family, playing with my dog and cats, learning and practicing different languages (including sign language!), and traveling. I love collecting rare indoor plants and practicing gratitude for this wonderful life I am blessed to have.

Douglas Elliman
In 1983 I arrived in Los Angeles with $500, a tent, and all my worldly belongings on my back. I did not speak English, but I found a job as a helper in a bookbinding factory within four days. During the next few years, I held down as many as three jobs at one time, working as many as 20 hours a day. I was, among other things, a construction worker, an underwater diver and an electrician.
At the same time, I attended adult classes in the evenings to learn English. After six months in America, I opened my first business: a frozen yogurt stand in Venice Beach, California. I eventually sold this business and decided to go to college. While living on an 86-foot yacht in Marina Del Rey and working as the owners representative, I attended the Physics Department at UCLA. While studying at UCLA, I began to create a research and development company. Today, I own 2 patents and work on some other projects as a hobby.
In 1992, I graduated from UCLA. In 1996, I decided to go into the real estate business, and I got my real estate brokers license. I was on the board of ACRE Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives for 3 years, and on the board of USARC- an organization committed to guiding people with disabilities towards the creation & affirmation of rewarding lifestyles.
On a personal level, I love outdoor activities. I mountain bike, hike, play tennis, wind surf, scuba dive, ride Arabian horses in endurance races, and I am learning to surf. I volunteer teaching handicapped kids water-skiing in the summer and snow-skiing in the winter. I love to paint in oil, and I sculpt in bronze. Life is quite a remarkable experience.
